day 1

so today was my first day of classes. or i guess i should just say class cuz i really only had english for hardly an hour and a half. my teacher seems cool, but i can't find any of the books that i need for friday, which is kinda unnerving. but he said he'd photocopy the first chapter for us if the bookstore ran out, which is seems to have. i have to remember to do that.
i set my alarm for 10 am this morning, just in case, but ended up getting up around nine anyway. i was woken at around seven by all the shuffling that everyone who had a studio class was doing. those start at eight. which is what i have tomorrow. dear me. my schedule tomorrow sucks. here's a basic overview:

8:00-11:30 - 2d Design
11:40-1:30 - some art history elective
1:40-6:00 - 2d design

its gonna be a long day...plus i still have to:
1) do some laundry
2) buy my books!! (or pick up the xerox copy)
3) buy the supplies from the list i get tomorrow
4) pick up a package at the mailroom window (maybe i'll do that friday...)
5) send matt his birthday stuff
6) send kevin his risd t-shirt

i hope thats it. sheesh. looks like i've got a long two days ahead of me. anyway back to today...

so after i woke up i had a quick breakfast (basically the half of my zone bar or whatever that i didn't finish from last night) and then called the registrar to make sure all my classes were set. then i went to the mailboxes to pick up a package that juli had sent me of all this clothes meta borrowed at one point or another during our lifetimes.

i was supposed to have dinner with ariel, but instead we changed it to lunch and went to this mediterranian/greek place on thayer st. that was pretty good, and not too expensive for a sit-down restaurant. our tab came out to be exactly twenty bucks! weird... we walked around thayer for a bit and then back to brown where she kind of showed me around the campus (i now know where her dorm and mail-room are). brown has so much more of a campus than risd, but i actually kinda like our way. no offense to brown :-) so after ariel walked with me to the BEB (where my english class was) and so i had class for an hour and a half. i think i already explained this. after i got back from class i came back and dropped off all my stuff.




yumi and i then went to a poster sale that brown was having, before going back to thayer street. we did some more poking around. we found a place that sells solely glass bongs and pipes. and some insense. and THATS IT. pretty neat i suppose. didn't buy anything though. we also went to this sporting goods store that sold this thermal suit thing that you wear when you're working out to make you sweat more. we thought it was hilarious and yumi has a pic on her phone of it. we walked around thayer for a bit (i ran into alison cohen at the brown bookstore!! yikes!) before going to this tattoo parlor that the people at the piercing place had told us about (called art freak tattoos or something) and then to the risd store. there, i bought matt and kevin their presents, and then we walked back up to the met to have dinner. they have the SALTIEST union soup i've ever had in my life. i had to come back and eat some chocolate to counter-balance the salty with sweet. at least thats the excuse i give myself.

then yumi did my nails for me. they're now a nice shiny pink color, which doesn't match anything i own, but whatever, i like em anyway. she's got like an entire kit, its rather amazing. after that we decided to have a south park/homework party, which consisted of caroline and yumi sitting on the rug doing their 2-d homework (they had 2-d today) while southpark played on my computer. since i didn't have my books i couldn't really do homework, so i just lounged. talked to kevin on the phone for a while and worked on the visiting schedule and stuff. oh, and kev: i just realized it'll be wintersession in january so the schedule will be different. maybe i can take you to the airport afterall. if you don't wanna go at six am. unless you do, which is fine too...ANYWAY...

so after we finished our hw/southpark extravaganza we all kinda got ready for bed. took showers, what not. my ears kinda hurt, i hope they're not getting infected. all of a sudden theres commotion in the hall. i'm gonna go check it out. god this was a long one. i miss you all my lovely readers!! xoxo
