mexico: day 2

last night we had "tradtional mayan cuisine" which, actually, wasn't all that bad or all that scary. though there was a dish called the chac mool, which after studying mayan art with rachel, really turned me off. i mean, who wants to eat something that is meant to hold the beating heart of a sacrificial victim? not me.

our "walk on the beach" was very short, as we were soon approached by a drunk shirtless man. kind of reminded me of the naked drunk man who decided to have a very meaningful conversation with me over gelato by the side of a canal in venice three years ago, but i digress...

we had planned on watching "big fish" last night (we found the disk in the dvd player in our room), but when we went to put the plain white disk inside, we were surprised to find that "big fish" had become "friends, season 4". so we watched that instead.

my mom called again this morning at 9:50 to wake us up. we're supposed to be checked out in 15 minutes, but are still downstairs enjoying breakfast. my mom is already planning for ice cream afterwards. i don't know how people who live in hot places can be overweight, the heat makes me lose all inclination to eat. maybe it's all that ice cream...

today we're driving down to tulum to find some ruins. my mom is driving, and though i'd promised i wouldn't let her, there was nothing i could do in this situation. her stubborness won. i just hope she doesn't get in an accident, cuz you know, who wants to be held in a mexican jail? we're then continuing on to a resort in the jungle. supposed to be very nice, hopefully no mosquitos. i don't know if i'll have internet, but i'll try.

tulum here we come.
